Such an iconic symbol of the north island and common sight almost anywhere in the Johnstone Strait area is the Orca, or Blackfish as the old timers call them. I wanted to paint them on a misty day passing through Sunderland Channel which runs out of Johnstone Strait and behind Hardwicke Island.
